‘I am keen to talk to Trump’, the reaction of PM Modi on the statement of the US President, know what else?

US President Donald Trump informed on Tuesday (9 September 2025) that he would talk about PM Modi in connection with business next week. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted on Donald Trump’s statement on X (East). He wrote that India and America are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our talks related to our business will pave the way to highlight the immense possibilities of Indo-US partnership. Our teams are working to complete these discussions as soon as possible. I am also keen to talk to President Trump. We will work together to ensure a bright and prosperous future for the people of both countries.

Earlier, US President Donald said that he is confident that it will not be difficult to reach a successful conclusion of trade talks between India and America. He will soon talk to his good friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is being seen as an indication of improvement in bilateral relations between India and the US. The US President said in a post on ‘Truth Social’ on Tuesday that he is happy to say that the talks are going on to remove the obstacles in the trade agreement between India and the US.

Total tariffs on India 50 percent
Trump said in a statement that I am eager to talk to my best friend, Prime Minister Modi in the coming weeks. I am confident that the talks between our two countries will be fulfilled properly, no difficulty will come. Trump’s comment indicates a significant improvement in bilateral relations. Relations between the two countries are probably going through the worst phase in two decades for the US imposing tariffs and buying oil from Russia. Trump has imposed an additional 25 percent fee for the purchase of 25 percent mutual fee and Russian oil on India. Due to this, the total tariff on India has increased to 50 percent, which is the highest in the world.

India made a statement about tariff
India has described the tariff charges leveled by the US as unfair and discretionary. Defending its purchase of Russian crude oil, India says that its energy purchase is inspired by national interest and market circumstances. After several months criticized India, US President Donald Trump said last week that the two countries have ‘special relations’ and there is nothing to worry. Trump said in his office ‘Oval Office’ at the White House on Friday, ‘I will always be a friend of Modi. He is a brilliant Prime Minister but I do not like the work being done on his behalf at this time. There is a special relationship between India and America, there is nothing to worry. Just sometimes some such moments come.
