Mizoram First Time in Indian Railways Map: For the first time Mizoram joined Indian Railway Map, will directly connect with Delhi, now Sararang, mountain cutting railway line

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (September 13, 2025) inaugurated the Bairabi-Giranrang new railway line for the first time with Mizoram. Today is a historic day for Mizoram, because it has now joined the railway map of India. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi flagged off three trains.

The Bairabi-Airang new rail line has been prepared at a cost of more than Rs 8,070 crore. This shows its commitment to the central government’s world -class infrastructure and connectivity to the end. This railway line is built in a challenging mountainous region. For this, 45 tunnels have been built under complex geographical conditions. It also includes 55 big bridges and 88 small bridges.

Mizoram Airport took part in Virtual Program
Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the program on Saturday through video conferencing. He left for Mizoram. However, unfortunately they could not reach Aizawl due to bad weather. After this, he participated in the virtual program from Mizoram Airport itself. Addressing the program, he said that Mizoram is playing an important role in India’s development journey. It is a historic day for the nation, especially for the people of Mizoram. Now Aizawl will be on the railway map of India.

What PM Modi said about Aizawl railway line
PM Modi said, “A few years ago I had the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of the Aizawl railway line and today we feel proud to dedicate it to the countrymen. Bairabi-Sarrang railway line has become a reality by crossing many challenges including inaccessible terrains. The skills of our engineers and the enthusiasm of our workers have made it possible.”

‘Sararang of Mizoram will be directly connected to Delhi for the first time’
The Prime Minister also said that for the first time Sararang of Mizoram will be directly connected to the national capital Delhi. This is not just a railway, but a lifeline of change. It will bring revolution in the lives and livelihood of the people of Mizoram. The farmers and businesses of Mizoram will be able to reach more markets across the country. People will also get better opportunities for education and healthcare. This development will create employment opportunities in many areas.
