Piyush Goyal will meet exporters in Mumbai from August 2 to 4 on US TARIFF

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will hold a meeting with exporters from various sectors including food processing, textiles, engineering and chemicals in Mumbai from August 2 to 4 and will discuss the impacts of 25 percent of the US fees announced. An industry official gave this information on Friday.

The official said that exporters of areas like fisheries, engineering, IT (information technology) and medicine will also participate in this discussion. The exporters of the leather sector are expected to meet the minister here on August 4. The US on Friday imposed a 25 percent fee on India, which is expected to affect almost half of the Indian exports of $ 86 billion to the US. However, the remaining half, including pharmaceuticals, electronics and petroleum products, are exempted from fees.

Sources said on Friday that India is continuing talks on trade agreement with the US, but no compromise will be made on agriculture, daily use and genetically modified (GM) products. The US team is coming to India on 25 August for the sixth round of talks.
