Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reacted to the Supreme Court’s order on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) said that it would be a very inhuman step to send all stray dogs of the city to shelter sites in a few weeks. He said that dogs are the most beautiful and gentle creatures and they are not entitled to such cruel behavior.
Priyanka Gandhi said- to do so inhuman
Priyanka Gandhi’s remarks came a day after the Supreme Court directed the Delhi-NCR officials to send all stray animals to the shelter sites as soon as possible. The court took this step in view of the serious threat of rabies caused by stray dog bites. Priyanka Gandhi wrote on the social media platform x, “It is very inhuman to send all the stray dogs of the city to shelter sites within a few weeks. There is not enough shelter to keep them.”
He said that animals are often abused in urban areas. He suggested that a human way of handling this situation should be discovered, in which these innocent animals can be protected and carried out.
The moving of all the City’s Stray Dogs to Shelters with a matter of weeks is going to result in horreendously inhumane treatment of them. Enough shelters do not even exist to take them on.
As it is animals in urban surroundings are subjected to Ill treatment and brutality.…

Rahul Gandhi also told the order of the Supreme Court wrong
Priyanka Gandhi’s brother Rahul Gandhi also justified the order of the Supreme Court. He said, “The Supreme Court’s directive to remove all stray dogs from Delhi-NCR is one step behind the human, science-supported policy that has been going on for decades.” The Leader of the Opposition said in a post on ‘X’ that these unmatched creatures are not “problems” which have to be erased.
The former Congress president said that “shelter site, castration, vaccination and community care can protect the roads without any cruelty.” But removing them completely is cruel, short-sighted and lacks compassion. “Rahul Gandhi said,” We can ensure that public safety and animal welfare are together. “
Supreme Court directive
Supreme Court Justice J.B. Pardiwala and Justice R. The bench of Mahadevan ordered on Monday that all stray animals of Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad should be kept in shelter sites. The court directed Delhi officials to build a shelter for about 5,000 dogs within 6-8 weeks and said that their number should be increased over time.
