Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar has expressed displeasure over the Karnataka’s Chief Electoral Officer given notice to Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. Congress MPs are attacking the Election Commission these days by alleging vote theft.
DK Shivkumar said, “Who are those who give notice? I have given them notice. We have the right to give notice. We have won the election legally. Elections should be legally held in democracy.”
What did the Chief Election Officer say in his notice?
The Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka sent a notice to Rahul Gandhi seeking evidence on his vote theft statement. In fact, Rahul Gandhi (August 7, 2025) alleged that more than 1 lakh votes have been stolen in Mahadevpura assembly seat and a woman voted twice.
In the letter sent to the Congress leader on Sunday, the Chief Election Officer said that the documents and screen shots that Rahul showed in the presentation did not match the Election Commission records. He wrote that it has also revealed in the investigation that the woman who was accused of casting votes twice, has denied this thing herself. The election officer asked Rahul Gandhi to provide all the documents on which he has made these allegations, so that a detailed investigation can be done.

Rahul Gandhi posted on the social media platform X on Sunday itself and said that the vote theft is an attack on the basic democratic principle of ‘one person, one vote’.
